Upcoming Vinyl Releases – Vampire Weekend, Father of the Bride

The fourth album is due for release in May

Father of the Bride is the upcoming fourth album by indie rock band Vampire Weekend. This long-anticipated release will be their longest album to date and the 18 track double LP will be released on both black and limited edition orange vinyl on May 3, 2019, by Columbia Records.

Six Year Wait

It has been 6 years since the band’s last release Father of the Bride Modern Vampires of the City, as Ezra Koeing has been busy with other projects including producing Beyoncé’s album, Lemonade a couple of years back (which was released on yellow vinyl and can be found on Amazon by clicking HERE).

It’s been quite some time but with an international tour on the horizon, it seems the band will be back together for at least the next year or so. Some tour stops include the Hollywood Bowl in LA, Alexandra Place in London and Madison Square Gardens in NY.

You can check out the rest of their upcoming tour dates on their website www.vampireweekemd.com.

Father of the Bride songs

As mentioned, this will be Vampire Weekend’s longest album to-date with seven more songs than their self-titled debut album. It’s great that after such a long hiatus they seem to be doing their best to make this release worth the wait.

Father of the Bride cover art

I’m not sure what they’re going for with this cover art, which is such a large departure from their previous covers. This album art is totally lost on my non-artistic eye so if anyone out there “gets it” please chime in the comments below. As far as I’m concerned, thank goodness they’re making up for this with orange vinyl!

Vampire Weekend’s Father of the Bride will be released in all the usual media forms and also on cassette tape, so get your pencils ready in case your tape deck decides to eat it up…me? I’m sticking to vinyl on this one! You can pre-order this from Amazon but if you want the limited edition orange double vinyl LP you’ll have to make your way to the official Vampire Weekend store and pre-order directly from there.

The album will also come with a folded 24″ x 36″ poster.

**Update 4/5/2019**
