If you’re a David Bowie fan you’re not going to want to miss this one!
In the past 2 years four of David Bowie’s albums have been released 45 years to the day after their first issue; Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars on gold vinyl and Aladdin Sane on silver.
This year we will see this trend continue, there will be a limited run edition of David Bowie’s eighth studio album Diamond Dogs released on red vinyl on May 24, 2019; 45 years to the day since the original release. This album will not be available online, this is bound for “brick and mortar” retail stores only.
This album was inspired by George Orwell’s book Nineteen Eighty-Four, one of my absolute favorite books, and the album is Bowie’s own version of a post-apocalyptic world. Bowie had intended to write a theatrical production of the book but the author’s estate denied the rights, those tracks ended up on the second half of Diamond Dogs (Wikipedia).
